Idiot

And I'm talking about me.

With all that we know about skin cancer and sun exposure, I decided to spend most of yesterday outdoors and neglected to put on sunscreen. I'm paying the price today: wearing my clothes is a pain that is only just bearable. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I've heard that conservatives sunburn more quickly that liberals. Something about seeking lofty heights... kidding!

Seriously, a bathtub and lots of tea bags. The tea will facilitate healing... you'll just have to scrub out the tub.

Oh sugar, I'm sorry! Tim's recommendation is a good one--cooling aloe gel is also good for immediate relief (as you know, I'm super fair-skinned and sunburn even quicker than I get mad--DAMN quick!).
Live and learn: be careful with your beautiful skin--when you get to be my age, every sunburn you've ever had starts to come back and haunt you. It's like a dermatological hangover.

Sunburn is inflammation. Use anti inflammatories such as aspirin or ibuprofen for the first couple of days.
Also, I'm a believer (contrary to the recommendations of dermatologists) that wise and careful use of a tanning bed can be safer than getting blasted at the beach. I tan a little through the winter then gradually build a base prior to my annual trip to Florida in Apil. I seldom burn. And I a fair.

Thanks Folks. Tim: I haven't heard of the tea thing before, but it's worth a shot! Lewd: I got some Aloe on the way home and even started applying it on the train. Luckily I am red enough that I got knowing sympathetic looks. Icon: I also got a bottle of aspirin (generic brand, in bulk--buying in bulk not only gives you a discount but also insulates your consumption from inflation!). I also try to get some sun exposure to build up melanin (I don't know if you can do that, but I'll pretend you can), unfortunately 11 hours outside on a clear sunny day with no sunscreen and only occasional retreats to shade was just too much.
